What are essential oils?

Most essential oils are extracted from therapeutic plants by steam distillation. The flowers, herbs, leaves, seeds and roots are used from many plants. Large amounts of these plant matter are needed to produce the oil, this is especially the case with rose essential oil where huge quantities produces a minute amount of oil hence their considerable price. Essential oils are natural products with the fragrance of the original plant but much more intense.

'Gardening Time'
